OUR STORY
The story of how KMA came to be is a special and inspiring one – a story where friendship and camaraderie have played a key role. Mohamad and Khaled, the minds behind KMA, received their PhDs at the same university two years apart.
In 1990, Mohamad made his first major career move, relocating to the Gulf and joining Commodore Contracting Company as a civil engineer. He persisted and thrived at Commodore, eventually being promoted to Senior Vice President of Commodore Group all while raising his three children with his wife. Mohamad’s projects at Commodore extended beyond borders, as he managed and oversaw a number of different projects in the UAE, Qatar, Sudan, Iraq, Lebanon, Mali, and the United States. These projects included high rise towers, complexes of residential and commercial buildings, and high finishing of royal palaces.
In the middle of 90’s, Khaled launched his career in Lebanon as a member of his family’s firm “Abou Taam Co. for Engineering & Construction” that was started in 1978. At this firm, the main focus and area of expertise was building design and build. Several years later, he founded “Khaled Abou Taam Architects & Atelier” where he has made many internationally significance projects and has become multi-award winner in several International Architecture Competitions. In 2014, Khaled took on the role of Professor of Architecture at Lebanese University’s Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture, where he helped shape a new generation of architects.
OUR VISION
Khaled, a Master of Architecture and Urbanism, and Mohamed, a Master of Civil and General Contracting, have maintained a professional and personal relationship ever since they’ve known each other. They both enjoy telling jokes, drinking coffee, enjoying a good bar of chocolate, and playing a game of chess. Khaled and Mohamad had the idea to start a business together – to make meaningful use of their respective skill sets and expertise and launch an international firm: KMA Atelier.
KMA covers projects in the Middle East, North America, Europe and Africa with a primary focus on architectural design, including interior work and landscape using software and programs such as CAD, 3D max, Revit, Rhinoceros, V-Ray, Lumion and others. KMA also offers meticulous supervision, ensuring the best work quality, selecting the best materials within clients’ budgets, and planning activities and work progress using software and programs including Primavera. Best quality, low cost, and promptness is KMA’s golden triangle.
