Khaled M. Abou Taam, Ph.D

Khaled M. Abou Taam was born in Lebanon in 1970.

He acquired his Doctorate in Philosophy in 2001 after enrolling in Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture. This doctorate was later amended to its equivalent in regionally accredited university in the USA in 2020. DR. Khaled is a multi-award winner from different International Architecture Competitions such as The Soul Temple in India by Arch8 2022, Microhome in France by Buildner 2022, and Ethiopian Satellite Preschools by Archstorming 2021. He has also published multiple theses covering the historical conditions of territorial development in Beirut and the creative legacy of well-known Kiev scientist Vasyli Grigorovich Barskiy.

He currently works as a professor of Architecture at the Lebanese University at the faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture. In this position, he assumes responsibility for teaching, monitoring and designing architectural studies and workshops for aspiring students enrolled in the university.

In the middle of 90’s, Dr. Khaled launched his career in Lebanon as a member of his family’s firm “Abou Taam Co. for Engineering & Construction” that was started in 1978. At this firm, the main focus and area of expertise was building design and build. In 2001, he became the founder and CEO of Khaled Abou Taam Architects and Atelier which was established. This position has allowed him to develop his leadership and practical skills.
Dr. Khaled takes pride in the architectural philosophies he implements in his works. His quest to implement Humanitarian Architecture (improving humanitarian issues through architecture) via the Ethiopian Satellite Preschools was ultimately successful when he was declared 1st winner of the international architecture competition by Archstorming in 2021.

He also implemented the philosophy of Small Architecture (small architecture – huge impact), where his project Microhome was shortlisted for the best ideas and designs at the International Architecture Competition by Buildner in 2022.

One thing Dr. Khaled is passionate about through his philosophy, is that the fact he doesn’t create designs, but rather translates his clients’ visions and dreams into a real-life project. This is the most evident through the handling of a Flower Pocket Neighborhood project in the state of Texas in the USA.

Dr. Khaled recently delivered “Tayouneh 1229” high-rise building in Beirut. This project features a symbolic concept which stands out as a landmark in Beirut and contributes positively to the metropolitan skyline and be readily recognizable. This project is notable and holds extra value because it was designed within the Deconstructivism Movement belonging to Contemporary Architecture.

Khaled’s history is a solid indicator of the massive success he achieved in all his work and education endeavors. He’s never faltered in finding enthusiasm, curiosity and positivity towards discovering and working in the field of architecture. His life’s work as highlighted by the previous and ongoing experiences that convey all his skills and knowledge. Dr. Khaled is always ready to take on new projects in challenging environments and is always ready to apply all his duties with full positivity and enthusiasm to maximize output.

Mohamad Hajj Ahmad, Ph.D

Dr. Mohamad Hajj Ahmad is a Lebanese American professional general contractor.

He acquired his Masters in Civil Engineering in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Technical Sciences five years later, in 1990.

Dr. Mohamad has amassed a comprehensive experience of over 30 years in the construction industry. He has also handled many different mega-projects with a value over one billion Dirhams (>$ 300 mill), one of which is the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) building, which now acts under Mubadala.

Other projects include high-rise towers, residential and commercial projects, hotels, industrial buildings, and Royal complexes. Additionally, Dr. Mohamad visited & inspected factories like Mitsubishi in Nagoya Japan, Peri in Munich Germany, EATON in the USA, and others. He also managed different Joint Venture projects between Commodore Group and South Korean companies, Turkish companies, and German companies like German Tunneling Herrenknecht AG. His work experiences span across the Middle East covering countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Qatar, Iraq, Lebanon and USA.

For the past 3 years, Dr. Mohamad has been working as a Freelance consultant, reviewing client inquiries addressed to the main contractor. Additionally, he has been reviewing detailed mobilization plans for essential projects, following up on main contractors work progress, and ensuring the implementation of the Projects Baseline Program. Dr. Mohamad has also been working on assistance claims and variation orders.

In his three decades working at “Commodore Contracting Co.”, a company based in Abu Dhabi & Dubai in the UAE, Dr. Mohamad handled responsibility for establishing new businesses and new subdivisions and representing top management in all Commodore Group industrial subsidiaries (Abaad for wood industry, Commodore Steel, Commodore Aluminum industry, Commodore Cement Industry in Doha and others).

He also was responsible for examining the state of the project’s finances, cash flow, major claims, and mitigation plans. Dr. Mohamad established efficient channels of communication between the Commodore headquarters and different project directors.

As the Senior Vice President of Commodore Group, he overlooked the business master plans for the Group Companies, as well as banking regulations and resources. He also assumed the role of implementing the safety and quality policies of the companies.

From 2013 and until he left Commodore, Dr. Mohamad acted as area manager in Qatar and Iraq. Additionally, he took on the position of Senior Vice President of Commodore Group in 2014.

Dr. Mohamad has been consistently successful in every pursuit of work and education sought after, and he attributes his successes to his perseverance, hard work, consistency and positivity.

Life’s work has filled him with a lot of experiences. Tears, headache and pain were there, stress and sleeplessness were there, a lot of success was there also. Now, Mohamad is ready to aim and work even higher.
