Breif: Amidst the Neem trees and sunsets of Kodidoddi village, GRIDSCAPE VILLAGE stands as a sanctuary of learning and togetherness. Designed with modular grids, it blends tradition, innovation, and sustainability to empower rural communities. Using local materials and passive cooling, the project creates flexible, eco-friendly spaces where people gather, grow, and celebrate collective resilience.
Description: GRIDSCAPE VILLAGE is a modular community center that redefines rural architecture through flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and sustainable design. Developed using a square grid system, the structure allows easy reconfiguration across different contexts, ensuring scalability and adaptability for future growth.
The project unfolds in three phases: the core elements (multipurpose hall, storage, toilets, veranda); additional facilities (office, Anganwadi, kitchen garden, playground); and cultural integration through a gallery arcade inspired by the traditional shamiyana. This layered design fosters social interaction, education, and local pride.
Built around a central Neem tree, the layout connects open courtyards, verandas, and gathering areas, merging nature with architecture. Passive cooling strategies, elevated steel roofing, and louvered walls enhance comfort and efficiency. Locally sourced concrete, country bricks, and metal sheets ensure affordability and environmental harmony.
Rooted in the spirit of community, GRIDSCAPE VILLAGE offers a resilient prototype that celebrates tradition while embracing modernity — a living framework for sustainable growth in rural India.
